Hoppy Birthday Card

Hello!  Kelly Szafron here.  My families cabin used to be surrounded by swamp and forest.  In the evenings we could hear the frogs and toads singing.  Away from the city lights the stars were so bright at the cabin.  This card was inspired by those summer evenings.  I used Waffle Flower Stamps and dies and yellow LED’s from Chibitronics.  I stamped and heat embossed the stars and toads on a circle die cut from watercolor card stock.  I colored the images with watercolors.  Once it was dry I used a paper piercing tool to poke holes in the stars for the lights to shine through.  I traced a circle on a piece of card stock to know were to build my circuit so it would be hidden by the top layer of the card.

I used a double layer of foam tape to add the focal point layer over the circuit.  A tip for curving foam tape is to remove the backing paper from both sides, this makes it more flexible and easier to curve.

The slit for the pull tab disrupts the positve circuit.  The copper tape on the pull tab completes the circuit and lights up the card when the tab is pulled.

I had fun sharing this card with you, I hope you are inspired to make a light up card.

Thanks for stopping by.
